One Journey | Three Paths
Casa Dumetz Wines started in 2004 with a tiny patch of raw earth and a bucket of grapevines to make a dream come true. In the process of digging in the dirt, we learned the true meaning of terroir and its absolute vital role in producing premium fruit. With the 2017 vintage, Casa Dumetz will return to producing only Pinot Noir.
Clementine Carter seeks to identify premiere Grenache + Mourvèdre growing sites in Santa Barbara County. As a producer I have worked with almost every Grenache vineyard in our region and each year I work with sites that deliver the complexity and beauty that comes from precise attention to detail in our farming environment.

I Approach my work...
... with a lifetime of exquisite flavors, travels and experiences. A journalist by training and now a winemaker by passion, I am regularly inspired to never quit searching for that moment – the instant where it all makes sense. The two professions also continue to challenge me whether through words or wine, to craft timeless stories that are better when shared with others. I have discovered that winemaking and writing are very similar pursuits – the story is in the grapes, the harvest, the people, and the season. Each year is a fresh renewal. My goal today is to create vibrant, balanced and pleasurable wines using the basic ingredients of premium Santa Barbara County fruit, dedication and hard work.
Have you heard about our Vineyard Tour & Tasting Exploration?
One of the many perks of our wine club...
On this tour we visit the vineyards that are vital to the Casa Dumetz portfolio to better understand the environment from which these wines are created. We take care of you. Your job is to relax. We travel to five different vineyard sites, discuss their histories, orientation, soil composition, trellising framework, clonal makeup and more as we taste the wines born in each vineyard. You will truly get a flavor for how important the translation of place is to the character of a wine.
